In this ensemble for our younger singers (ages 7-10), kids learn the foundations of healthy vocal technique as they sing a wide array of repertoire in diverse styles including gospel, classical, popular, and music from many international cultural traditions. Work on repertoire is interspersed with singing games that allow kids to explore their voices as both solo singers and members of a group.
The ensemble performs three times annually in intergenerational concerts on themes of social and environmental justice with all of EVC's ensembles in premiere NYC venues, usually Merkin Hall at the Kaufman Music Center and Miller Theater at Columbia University. Performance opportunities are designed to be joyful experiences that promote the growth and confidence of our young singers and musicians.
There is no vocal audition required to join the Kids Choir; we ask only a firm commitment to full participation in all rehearsals and performances. Students who are not able to meet expectations for participation may be dismissed from the choir.
Every Voice Kids rehearses weekly on Thursdays 4:00-4:55 pm at The Riverside Church (W 120th St/Claremont Ave).
